The town of Hartford, Vermont is located on the Connecticut River and borders New Hampshire to the east. Hartford, VT is probably more known for the hamlets it hosts. Quechee – site of the annual Quechee Balloon Festival and Quechee Gorge, West Hartford, White River Junction and Wilder are all located in the town of Hartford. The Woodstock Rail Road once crossed Quechee Gorge on the highest railroad bridge in the northeast, that bridge is now a highway bridge. Hartford was chartered by Governor Benning Wentworth and is named for Hartford, Connecticut.
