Visit VT During Autumn

Vermont is known for being one of the top destinations for those who would like to see the true colors of fall and enjoy the sights of fall foliage. Enjoy a few ideas for places to visit during your Vermont Fall Vacation. Thanks for bookmarking, https://vtliving.com.

Smugglers’ NotchJeffersonville, VT
It is considered one of the most amazing roads in the state. To be precise, it is a mountain pass featuring steep cliffs and a lot of trees that turn different shades of red, yellow, and orange in fall. There are several hiking trails both for newbies and pros, so do not hesitate to pull off and explore the surroundings or go biking.

Equinox Skyline Drive – Manchester, VT
Equinox Mountain offers magnificent views whenever you come there, yet, it is a must-visit in the fall. As you drive up, you can stop by the road for a picnic. When having reached the summit, go to the viewing center. From all sides, there are mountains. The fall foliage makes them even more breathtaking. And if you would like to hike the summit trails, you can also go to Lookout Rock.

Emily’s Bridge
Even if covered bridges are not your thing, visiting Emily’s Bridge might interest you. It looks exactly like those bridges from horror stories where all the supernatural and suspicious stuff happens. Actually, this bridge is known for the stories about it being haunted and a strange voice coming from inside of it. Emily’s Bridge is just a few minutes drive from beautiful Stowe.

Sunset Ridge Trail
Hike this trail to enjoy the scenic views of Mountain Mansfield and even more. Champlain Valley can also be seen when passing by. Due to the 360-degree view from the mountains, you can also see Stowe. So, traveling here is basically about visiting several sites at once!

Lamoille Valley Rail Trail
It is especially recommended to visit the trail if you come to Vermont with your dog(s). Nearby, St. Johnsbury, there is Dog Mountain – a park your dog will love without a doubt. There are numerous paths, ponds, and open areas for you and your pet to enjoy!

Mad River Valley
The scenic Mad River valley is a place with a lot of water bodies. In addition, it is famous for the covered bridges introduced here. For those who like paddling, there is also an opportunity to enjoy the fall foliage views while moving across the Mad River. The Mad River Taste Place is a perfect spot to take a break from activities and try local food and drinks.

Great Vermont Maze
Corn mazes tended by farmers after harvesting are a usual thing here, but in the Great Vermont Maze, you get to visit the biggest maze in Vermont and even more. In October, the owners offer the visitors a walk through the haunted maze of horrors that includes actors and special effects. Family Fun, Sometimes Spooky!

Jenne Farm
Jenne Farm is a family-owned Vermont small business established more than 100 years ago. This farm is one of the most photographed sceneries in the state and the whole New England region. Also, you might have seen it in movies like Funny Farm and Forrest Gump. The rural area is not that easy to notice when passing, so it takes time to find the way there. Yet, the sight of red buildings on the hills covered with a colorful blanket of leaves is totally worth it!

VT Fall foliage sceneJamaica State Park
Here, you can not only enjoy the views of mountains, fall foliage, and waterfalls but also participate in a whole lot of activities:

And if you want more, Mount Snow’s bike park is 30 minutes away!

Groton State Forest

Here, you can go paddling in Ricker Pond, simply take a walk, or go hiking. Owl’s Head has one of the best sights in the state. Ask any local where you must go to get a breathtaking view, and they will name Owl’s Head with its magnificent scenery of hills, trees, and Kettle Pond. The hike there and back will not take more than 2 hours. And if you are a fan of long walks, consider visiting Peacham Bog Loop Trail.

Burlington Bike Path
The waterfront of Burlington stretches for 8 miles along amazing sights, beaches, and parks where you can make a stop, watch the sunset, or simply enjoy the sights of Lake Champlain. It is not a must to have your own bike, you can rent one in the Local Motion store. Along the way, you will also see a number of food trucks and cafes to have a snack or a full meal.

Champlain Valley
Champlain Valley is shared between two countries (the US and Canada) and two US states – New York and Vermont. It has numerous hiking trails, and as you reach one of the viewing spots, you won’t regret coming up there. However, even from the bottom of the valley, the scenery is overwhelming. And if you would like to try local food, visit the Burlington farmers market.

Quechee Gorge State Park
If you are a fan of camping, it is a must-visit for you. In the park, you have an opportunity to have a picnic, ride a bike, hike, fish, and enjoy the view over the Quechee Gorge dam. There is a waterfall and a breathtaking view of the Ottauquechee River, surrounded by trees from both sides of the river.

Oktoberfest Stowe
Mount Snow Oktoberfest is one of the events in Vermont where you do not have to hike, ride a bike, or whatever. Just try the freshly brewed beer, participate in contests like the yodeling or keg toss, relax, and listen to the Oom‑pah music.

Elmore State Park
One more place where you can go camping and hiking. In addition to the typical activities, there is stand-up paddleboarding. There are picnic pavilions and also a beach area. Boats are also available for rental. The hiking trails will lead you to the top of Elmore Mountain with a panoramic view of other mountains, water bodies, and marvelous colors and sights created by fall foliage.

Woodstock Vermont
This place has a special aura. In addition to the lovely Woodstock Inn Resort, you’ll find Art exhibitions, festivals, live music, cocktails, local craft brews, harvest celebrations, and a lot of other stuff to try here. Here, you can go horseback riding, fishing, biking, and golfing as well as visit the stores and cafes that sell locally sourced products:

This list is definitely not comprehensive, but still, it is enough for one to spend a full vacation in the state and have a lot of nice memories. Just imagine how much Vermont has to offer during the winter, spring, and summer seasons! Plan in advance, book direct and thanks for mentioning “Vermont Living” when you inquire.
