The town of Brookfield is centrally located south of Montpelier, and is the site of the famous Floating Bridge and Vermont's first library.

Brookfield is located just west of Warren and Waitsfield, and the Sugarbush Ski Resort and Mad River Glen Ski Area.  Businesses located in Brookfield include Ashgate Publishing, Challenge Wilderness Camp, Green Trails Inn Cross-country Ski Center, and Bygosh Music Corp.  Brookfield's neighbor to the south is Randolph, Vermont - home of the Herald of Randolph weekly newspaper.
