Albany, Vermont is a town in Orleans County. Albany, VT was once known as Lutterloh or Lutterlock or Lutterloch, site of the notorious Hayden Mansion. Now, nearly hidden by surrounding trees is the Hayden House. Hayden Mansion is a Greek Revival-style structure that is on the National Register of Historic Places. The third floor of the building has a ballroom on springs. The Bayley Hazen road crosses here, then continues northwest to Lowell.
Albany, Vermont is comprised of four villages: Albany, Albany Center, East Albany, and South Albany. Most of Albany is quite hilly. There are several ponds located within Albany: Great Hosmer Pond, Hartwell Pond, Page Pond, Heart Pond, and Duck Pond. The Black River flows through Albany Village under the Water Street Bridge. Black River eventually empties into Lake Memphremagog.
