It neighbors the Connecticut River, New Hampshire, and Peacham, VT. The scenic town of Barnet features Harvey’s Lake, a favorite summer vacation spot. The villages within Barnet include: McIndoe Falls, Mosquitoville, Barnet Center, East Barnet, West Barnet and Passumpsic. Harvey’s Lake was the lake that famous French oceanograher Jacques Cousteau first experienced underwater diving. Cousteau visited Harvey’s Lake as a child. Jacques-Yves Cousteau died on Wednesday, June 25, 1997. He was considered by many to be “the father of the enviornmental movement”. Barnet is also home to Karme-Choling – a Tibetan meditation retreat and center. The Milarepa Center is also located here. Barnet is traversed by I-91. The highest elevation in Barnet is Roy Mountain (2,103 feet).
