You are set on a hill side over looking a vista of Vermont's Green Mountains. The gentle breeze filters through the three sided glassed/screened area and the moving landscape of color transports you miles from your everyday life. A mini escape with Dinner at Juniper's at the Wildflower Inn in East Burke Vermont.
Advertised as "Home Cooking with a Flair" a great way to describe Juniper's. The menu features a large selection; from Steaks, Pork Chops, Shepards Pie with Parsnips and Turnip, Meatloaf, Lemon Garlic Chicken, Rainbow Trout, and our selection, Baked Stuffed Shrimp, Mustard encrusted Salmon, and the special - Scallops with sundried tomatoes, basil in a wine garlic sauce over Fettucini.
The wine list is not overwhelming and includes several terrific vintages of white and red wines both domestic and imported.
Salad is served family style, it was very fresh, and lightly dressed. Real skins-on Mashed Potatoes and lightly steamed bright green asparagus dressed the plates of the giant succulent Seafood Stuffed Shrimp and the Salmon that was sweet and moist encrusted with a mustard sauce that was not over whelming. The Scallops cooked to perfection, served over fettucini was flavorful, but again, individual flavors of the sundried tomatoes, and basil, were palette pleasing.
Since dessert is of major importance the menu is a crowd pleaser. Apple Pie alamode, Chocolate Lava Cake, Maple Creme Brulee to name a few. And all worth the calories.
The service was attentive and not over bearing. The atmopshere relaxing and casual attire is welcome. The wine list reasonably priced. The overall experience is one I would surely recommend. $$-$$$
