The Village of Waterbury and neighboring Waterbury Center in Washington County are located on the shores of the Winooski River, in the Green Mountains, in North Central Vermont. The Village of Waterbury was founded in 1763 under a grant from King George III. Waterbury Center, located a few miles to the north was settled later.
Waterbury is a commercial, government and tourism center surrounded by farmland and ski resort areas. Major manufacturers include specialty foods, high tech products and professional services.
Points of interest are Waterbury Center State Park, Ben & Jerry's Ice-cream factory, Green Mountain Coffee Roasters, Cabot cheese Annex and Cold Hollow Cider Mill. One of the most scenic roads in Vermont, Route 100, runs through Waterbury and Stowe village, Vermont then to points north.
The Town of Waterbury holds an annual Waterbury Community Fair.
