Tinmouth was once the County Seat - from 1781 until 1784. This Rutland County town is the only place in the world with this unique name - although two English towns are pronounced the same. Tynemouth in Northumberland Great Britain and Teignmouth in Devonshire England. The American Revolutionary spirit ran high here in Tinmouth and at least one man was killed for "being a Tory."
