This small, pictureque Vermont town is home to less than 1,000 people but offers scenic beauty and nearly 30,000 acres of rural Vermont. Chartered July 29, 1761, Sunderland does not have a local post office. The U.S. Mail for the town comes out of nearby Arlington. Sunderland is part of Bennington county and was the site of a kangaroo court maintained by the state of Vermont to try "thieving Yorkers".
