Grafton was originally named Thomlinson, now beautifully restored by the Windham Foundation, a privately endowed foundation. Grafton is a small town of antique shops, an art gallery, and specialty foods including the Grafton Village Cheese Co. and Grafton Goodjam, Inc.
The beautiful and historic Old Tavern at Grafton is also located here. The Old Tavern is located in the center of town and has hosted many notable writers and poets. The old photographs alone are worth a visit. Grafton also has two State Forests, the W.C. Putnam State Forest and Grafton State Forest.
Grafton attractions include; The historic Black Smith Shop - where you can see work in progress ( usually open only summer and fall - it is located near the elementary school.) , The Grafton Historical Society Museum, and the Grafton Museum of Natural History.
