| East Montpelier is a town in Washington County. When Montpelier was named the permanent capital of Vermont, East Montpelier was set aside to become its own town in 1848. So this town gained the East at the front of the name and became its own town, completely separate from the capital of Montpelier. East Montpelier is home to the Washington Electric Cooperative, which covers roughly 41 towns in the north-central area. |
