Located in the foothills of the Green Mountains in Western Vermont, is the historic Town of Castleton. Vermont's first college was founded here in 1787. The town is comprised of West Castleton, Hydeville, Bomoseen, and the Village of Castleton.
Within its 39 square miles, the Town has much to offer. Six mile Lake Bomoseen is a haven for anglers, boaters, and swimmers alike. The town-operated Crystal Beach offers sandy beach swimming and facilities.
In the summer on the town green there is often music to enjoy. Town auctions are always sure to turn up some interesting antiques. And Castleton State College's fine and performing art departments are always putting on great shows.
The Hubbardton Battlefield is located just north of this Vermont village. The site of a historic Revolutionary War battle, there is a visitor's center with incredible views of the Green Mountains.
