Church Street, located just blocks from the bustling waterfront, lends itself perfectly to all types of creative art expression. Many lone Performers like the tight rope walking man (who will ask for audience participation to hold his rope tight), or the lazy wail of the saxophone player, a mime, a juggler, a folk singer, you name it and you could find it on any given day amongst the fine shops, boutiques and the Church Street Marketplace.
Other large attractions are the numerous food vendors that inhabit the courtyards of Church Street. The Hot Dog lady has been there for more than 10 years. A more recent addition is the Kettle Korn vendor, (this is worth every calorie). Try the Chinese Dumplings and Egg Rolls. The
aromas of the Italian Sausage, peppers and onions drifts down the block, making ones mouth water. Ben & Jerry’s also has a large corner lot presents if ice cream suits your fancy. All of this, and over 8 Cafe/Restaurants that offer outdoor settings and dining. Many have after hour evening entertainment. Church Street a very happy place to spend time or to shop and dine.
Looking for a more serene setting, just walk 3 or 4 blocks away to water Front Park. Stroll along the Lake Champlain, look for Champ our local sea monster, take your board to the skate park, visit the Leahy Eco Center, or take a cruise on The Lake from the new pier. There are also several great boutiques and restaurants along the lake.
