This scenic Vermont town was first granted to Col. William Barton of Providence, Rhode Island. Located about 20 miles north of St. Johnsbury on US Route 5, Barton is home to manufacturers such as Ethan Allen Furniture - a major employer in the area. Other Barton businesses include; G&G Market, E.M. Brown & Son, Auger's Sugarmill, and Bruce Conley Sawing. The weekly newspaper, The Chronicle, is published in Barton, as well.
