Barre town was incorporated separately from the city of Barre. Even though Barre Town does almost completely surround the city of Barre these are two separate places. Within the town of Barre are two unincorporated villages, Graniteville and East Barre. Home of the Rock of Ages E.L. Smith Quarry, Graniteville played host to a few film crews when the quarry was used in the movie, Batman and Robin.
