Albany was once known as Lutterloh or Lutterlock or Lutterloch, site of the notorious Hayden Mansion. Now, nearly hidden by surrounding trees is the Hayden House. Hayden Mansion is a Greek Revival style structure that is on the National Register of Historic Places. The third floor of the building has a ballroom on springs. The Bayley Hazen road crossed here, then continued northwest to Lowell.
