The techniques used in the LTR program are tested and developed by members of snowboard instructor associations worldwide. All elements of the LTR Center are designed by riders for riders--from equipment setup to certified instruction to appropriate learning terrain. Burton has evaluated the entire program from start to finish to ensure success.

Owning up to its reputation of being the eastern hub for adventure skiing, Sugarbush Resort is adding almost 40 new acres of gladed terrain on Mount Ellen. There will be a learning area on Inverness Peak and when newcomers feel they are ready for something a little tighter and steeper, they can make their way up to Tumbler and Exterminator to really test their turns. If they need some extra helpings of confidence, the Adventure Learning Center is open to anyone looking for a lesson in gladed grace.

Kids looking to ski like a legend now have an option. The Sugarbush Ski & Ride School, and Doug Lewis, two-time Olympian, have created two new Blazer groups in their own images. Egan’s Adventure Blazers is for kids who want to ski all over the mountain--steeps, trees, bumps and the parks and pipe. Lewie’s Race Blazers is for the crew that wants to focus on racing--running gates, crushing NASTAR, or learning how to set courses.

Getting There: Sugarbush ski resort is 3 miles from Warren, 135 miles from Albany, 190 miles from Boston, 210 miles from Hartford, 140 miles from Montreal and 325 miles from New York. Driving time is about 1 hour from Burlington and 45 minutes from Rutland.

From New York take the New York Thruway (I-87) to Exit 24 to The Northway (I-87) to Exit 20, then go northeast on Route 149 to Route 4 through Rutland to Route 100 north to Sugarbush.

From Boston take I-93 to I-89 to Exit 9 (Middlesex), then east on Route 2 one-half mile to Route 100B south to Route 100 south to the Sugarbush Access Road.
