Mad River Glen Ski Area is the only co-operatively owned ski area in the United States. They are also the proud owners of the last surviving single diesel powered chair lift in the United States.
Mad River Glen does not permit snowboarding on its rugged terrain. Their motto is "Ski it if you can," with 30% novice trails, 30% intermediate trails, and 40% advanced trails.
Mad River Glen is located in Vermont's beautiful Mad River Valley, just minutes away from Sugarbush Ski Resort, and many outstanding area inns, restaurants, and ski lodges.
Getting There: Mad River Glen is located in central Vermont’s picturesque, Mad River Valley and is only a 3-mile drive from the Sugarbush Resort. It lies just 45 miles southeast of Burlington, Vermont via Interstate 89. It is 3 hours from Boston and Hartford, 2 hours from Montreal and 6 hours from New York City. The resort is located on Route 17 in central Vermont, 5 miles from Waitsfield. From the south, take I-91 or I-93 north to I-89 to Route 100 south to Route 17.
