Special Thanks to Louis Pastor for this contribution.
I see your tracks in the late winter snow
again this year
Why do you come?
You are not the coyote
You are not the deer, nor the red tail hawk
Needles probing for an artery, for a vein
For what?
Wisdom?
And when the pale March sun folds
you are not here to share incantations
Yet as tomorrow slips through yesterday,
your whispers ripen
and you return
To burn the bones of our fathers
and brothers
To boil my blood
And my tears.
