Behind My Brown Eyes

Behind my brown eyes lives
The heart of an old soul
Struggling to find her path
Set by God.
Battling heartache and
Rejoicing life
Trying to trust in the unkown.


Traveling in unfamiliar seas
Treacherous then calm
Homeward bound finds her
Lost, but not alone.


It's here; through the water's reflections
Her soul is seen
Happy, yet
Scared.


Surrounded by those who love her.
Acknowledged by those who care.
Forgotten by those unworthy.
She finds her strength.


She lives with hope of providence,
And loves with ties that bind.
Waiting for her chance
To be released from behind these
Brown eyes of mine.
