Barton Vermont Cadillac Parade Vermont Breaks the Guinness Book of World Records in 2011
Vermont Living Magazine was present when the Guinness Book of World Records was set in Barton, Vermont for the longest ever Cadillac Parade. The sun was as bright and shiny as many of the classic Cadillac automobiles lined up for the Cadillac Parade. The town of Barton and the Orleans County Fair Association set the world record for the most Cadillac's ever to assemble for a parade. The record-breaking event was held at the beginning of the Orleans County Fair.
Nearly 300 Caddy's showed up. The Cadillacs came from far and wide. Many US states and Canada were represented. We spotted Cadillacs from Maine, Texas, New York, New Hampshire, Alaska, Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts and more. Many Quebec Cadillacs crossed the border to be present. There were some remarkable antique Cadillac automobiles that rolled into the Fairgrounds.
Cadillac is still America's premier luxury automobile. The Cadillac line is manufactured in the United States by General Motors (GM) of Detroit, Michigan.
Cadillac has been making automobiles since 1902. The brand makes a variety of vehicles. Many of which were represented in the Guinness Book of World Records record shattering event here in Barton. Cadillacs present included; a Cadillac hearse, a Cadillac limousine, several Caddy SUV's and even a Cadillac Ambulance.
Cadillac was founded by a former resident of Barton, Vermont - Henry Leland, who names his company after his ancestor, Antoine de la Mothe Cadillac, the founder of the city of Detroit. Leland was a master mechanic and entrepaneur; his great grandson was present while the Cadillac Parade record was broken here in Vermont. Mr. Leland said it best - the world record for the longest Cadillac Parade belongs in America. We agree - it should stay right here in Barton.
