What's a browser? OK, too many have asked, so here goes. A browser is the popular name for the computer software that allows you to access (or surf) the internet.
The most popular internet browser is use today is Microsoft Internet Explorer. Netscape is also a widely used browser. Another nice browser we like is called Opera. Opera is small, (requires less hard disk space) and available from Qualcomm - the company that distributes Eudora, an excellent e-mail program. Firefox is rapidly growing in popularity.
Why ugrade? It is important to upgrade to the latest version of your favorite browser for several reasons; to enhance your internet experience (new technology often requires the latest browser version for functionality), for security (fixes to keep hackers at bay are often included in new versions), speed (the competition is fierce to create a faster, more user friendly internet browser).
Browser downloads can take several hours over a dialup connection. If you are still on dial-up we suggest downloading overnight when internet traffic levels are down.
