The Austin Hill Inn has created a way to enjoy a weekend away, regardless of the season. Guests themselves assume the role of an eccentric actress or a prestigious director, hobnobbing with some of the wealthiest and most devious residents in the nation.
Prior to their arrival, guests will receive an individual murder mystery packet in the mail, which details the storyline for the weekend, the character they will be playing, and costume suggestions. "This is the guest's first taste of what the weekend is really going to be all about," says John Bailey, Innkeeper and 'Resident Butler' during the specialty weekends. The Inn plays host to Murder Mystery Weekends year-round, with the spring season starting in late April and running through late June.
Murder Mystery Weekend Packages at the Austin Hill Inn generally include two nights accommodations, welcoming dessert reception Friday evening, wine and cheese reception Saturday evening followed by a full dinner with complimentary wine, full country breakfasts each morning (with Sunday morning being the awards breakfast), and, of course, a mystery packet for each guest.
In addition to the spring/summer series, the Inn presents the Murder Mystery Weekends from late October through early December. The summer months are usually filled with special-occasion-themed murder mystery weekends such as rehearsal dinners, celebratory birthdays, family reunions, or a variety of themes designed for groups gathering for some scandalous fun. John says, "Rehearsal dinners are especially fun and they provide the families with a relaxed atmosphere where they can get to know each other." And, "The weekends may be labor intensive for us, but it's well worth the effort for all the laughs that come out of our dining room. Everyone goes home with a new friend - or enemy, for that matter!"
