The Vermont Ski Museum is now open in the heart of the Village of Stowe. The museum is housed in the Old
Town Hall built in 1818. The building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The Vermont Ski Museum is a must see for skiers, history buffs, and visitors.
The Vermont Ski Museum was originally established in 1988 in Brandon, Vermont, founded by Roy Newton. Its purpose was to chronicle the 100-year history of skiing in Vermont by gathering and displaying a large collection of Vermont skiing memorabilia and historical artifacts.
The conversion of this historic building into a first-class ski museum is now complete. Over a million dollars was spent on the renovation funded by generous donors, contributors and Vermont Ski Museum memberships.
The building is a showcase facility and contains state-of-the-art fire safety, museum quality air-conditioned space and handicap accessibility to three levels of the 5,400 square foot Museum. Visitors will find interesting exhibits and displays.
The entire family will enjoy a visit to the Vermont Ski Museum. There is much to see and do; watch old ski movies and vintage ski footage on a giant plasma screen, make custom graphics for your own snowboard, sit in an old ski lift, view ski posters and vintage skiing advertising, learn how Vermont ski areas grew and more.
